Gumah Salifu has a BSc. degree in Agribusiness from University of Ghana and has completed his Master of Philosophy degree in Innovation Communication and waiting for certification from University for Development Studies, Ghana. Mr Gumah is a Tutor in the Agricultural Department of Tamale Polytechnic since 1999. He mentors higher national diploma students in Entrepreneurship and Agricultural Extension. From 2006 to early 2008 he was a member of a team that developed a competency-based curriculum for Entrepreneurship training in the Agricultural Departments of Ghana’s Polytechnics funded by the Netherlands government under the Nuffic Project.
In 2007 Mr. Gumah worked on part-time in developing the businesses of women agro-processors at Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development a non governmental organization based in Northern Ghana. He developed the entrepreneurial skills of women agro-processors on business planning, sourcing of micro-credit, processing and marketing.
In 2008 he was the Project Coordinator for University of North Carolina Biosand Filter Research Project in Ghana and saw its completion in early 2009. He represented the project to donors and communities where the research was conducted, distributed logistics to field and laboratory staff, ensured the proper collection and entering of data, compiles results and send reports to the Project Manager. From 2009 to mid 2010 he was a member of a team that conducted a survey on post harvest losses on vegetables in Northern Ghana for University of Davis, California. He visited some selected vegetable farms and conducted interviews as well as took measurements on tomatoes, okra and onion quality: on-farm, off-farm and several days after harvest.
Mr. Gumah is a co-founder and a consultant to the Centre for Global development and Professional Training, in the areas of Agribusiness Promotion and Innovation Communication. He trains young school leavers from senior high schools, polytechnics and universities on business plan development and sourcing for micro-credit.
He is also a member of Voluntary Workcamps Association of Ghana and is directly involved in the securing and planting of tree seedlings during vacation in some communities in the Northern Region of Ghana.
