This workshop will use a strengths-based approach to focus on the way in which to live out the belief that "information is power." They will identify individual and collective strategies and resources that can be used to take advantage of green job training opportunities and self-employment possibilities locally and nationally. In addition, the participants will explore ideas about what currently exists and/or can be developed both within the African American community and in the larger socio-economic setting. Individuals participating in this workshop will increase their capacity to recognize and access opportunities that will enhance the quality of life for themselves and for the communities from which they come and seek to serve. This will include needs to be addressed under the aegis of "green economy," funding resources, conferences, mentoring and other possibilities for collaboration on starting or participating in projects/businesses.
