Date & Room Location: TBD

This workshop is an invitation to come and visit the gardeners in Germany and to create a network of community gardens around the globe. We will speak about our work in “Stifftung Interkultur” the foundation that is supporting and linking the COMnunity Gardens in Germany, we will show parts of our films about Intercultural COmmuntiy Gardening and Guerrilla Gardening in Germany (www.communtygarden.de) and we will give you an overview about the main subjects and visions in the garden projects.

“Intercultural Gardens – City Landscapes of a Migratory Society”
For more than a decade intercultural gradens have enriced German Citites. In intercultural gardens, immigrants and Germans from different social milieus and with differing lifestyles meet. New connections and affinities arise when they collectively cultivate the soil within the city. Migrants that come to Germany often feel deprived. An intercultural garden shows ways out this ghetto of perceived difference.

We hope not only to give an idea of what is happening in Germany at the moment or to encourage intercultural projects all around the world but to build ties between the movements on the different continents. This workshop is a first inviiation to come and visit the gardens and gardeners and to create a solidarity network of support and exchange around the globe.

Ella von der Haide and Britta Shneider are filmmakers and are currently traveling through the US to interview and show the North American Community Gardening Movement, for a new film in their series “Another world is plantable! Community Gardening around the world.”
