Gary Heine and Valerie Kausen started Breaking New Grounds in Louisville to grow food, farmers and jobs. They discovered a missing key to building and sustaining local agriculture in a community. They teach people how to grow food in backyards and front yards and they believe this is the heart of the local agriculture movement-–it makes local agriculture personal. This workshop will address direct connections and the building the feeling of support, simple information and communication. People growing food are realizing the true value of local sustainable food and, in fact, once they discover this, they truly care about it.
