Growing the Next Generation of Organic Farmers - How to Set Up Mentor Networks and Your Own On-Farm Apprenticeship Program

Sebastian Kretschmer will illustrate the vital role of on-farm mentoring and regional training networks for efficient knowledge transfer within the sustainable farming movement.  Sebastian helped inaugurate the Northeast Mentor Network with the New England Small Farm Institute and later spearheaded the Northamerican Biodynamic Apprenticeship Program with the Biodynamic Association and piloted this two year training program on his own CSA farm.  The art of mentorship and the nuts and bolts of designing an on farm apprenticeship program and a regional training alliance such as CRAFT (Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training)  will be discussed.
